Summer Camp 2026 - Animals Week

A wild and wonderful week at EAPS Summer Camp! Our campers explored the animal kingdom through a variety of hands-on art projects while learning about sculpture, printmaking, movement, and design.

We kicked off the week by learning about camouflage, discovering how animals can change their colors and patterns to blend into their surroundings. Campers then painted ceramic octopus figurines, incorporating their own camouflage-inspired patterns and designs.
Next, they sculpted adorable clay animal bobbleheads while learning how artists use proportion to create playful, exaggerated characters.
Our next projects brought movement into art as campers painted colorful tropical bird puppets with articulating wings, using brass fasteners to make them flap. 
We then explored printmaking and collagraphs, creating textured beetle printing plates from cardboard. Campers experimented with pattern, repetition, and color while printing a beautiful series of beetle prints in their own handmade books. 
We also built paper derby horses and wrapped up the day with an exciting horse race that had everyone cheering!
To finish the week, campers explored anamorphic characters, drawing inspiration from Fantastic Mr. Fox to create charming vintage-style animal portraits. 
Our final project introduced kinetic art, as campers assembled silly, wacky-eyed bunny characters that could be moved and interacted with.
It was another fantastic week filled with creativity, curiosity, and animal-inspired fun. We can't wait to see everyone for next week's Food Week adventure!
