EAPS Pottery Foundations — Summer 2026

Pottery Foundations for Spring 2026 is taught by members of the EAPS Studio Team. Each instructor leads their own class section, and you’ll see who is teaching when you select your preferred day and time.

Francesca Antonello
Francesca is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in ceramics, jewelry, printmaking, and photography. She holds a BFA from Alfred University and an MA from Syracuse University. Her teaching emphasizes technical clarity, thoughtful repetition, and helping students build a strong, grounded wheel practice.

Erika Port
Erika is a Potter in Residence whose warm, encouraging teaching style helps students gain confidence and control on the wheel. She focuses on improving consistency, refining technique, and guiding students through the essential steps of forming, trimming, and finishing their work.

Across all Foundations offerings, students can expect clear demonstrations, steady one-on-one guidance, and a supportive studio environment designed to help potters of all levels strengthen their technique.

This class is designed for a wide range of students — from complete beginners to experienced potters looking for structured practice.

If you’ve never touched a wheel before, Foundations gives you the guided instruction and repetition to build real confidence. If you’ve taken classes before or have your own practice, this is a place to correct habits, strengthen consistency, and deepen your control with focused coaching.

No prior experience required. Just a willingness to show up, get your hands dirty, and stay with the process.

You’ll move through a clear progression of foundational wheel techniques, with instruction tailored to your experience level:

• Preparing and wedging clay for wheel work
• Centering with consistency
• Pulling walls and forming cylinders and bowls
• Trimming to refine proportion, balance, and footwork
• Basic surface finishing and an introduction to glazing concepts
• Refinement and coaching for experienced potters — improving consistency, correcting habits, strengthening control

The goal is not only to complete finished pieces, but to build the technical understanding and confidence that support long-term growth on the wheel.

Format: 8-week course
Schedule: Weekly sessions — select your preferred day and time at checkout
Skill level: Beginner to experienced — no prior wheel experience required
Class size: Up to 12 students
Ages: 18+

Finished pieces will be ready for pickup after firing. You’ll receive a notification when your work is complete.

2+ Weeks Before Your Service
You have full flexibility. Try to reschedule to a different date—your full booking value transfers with no penalty. If no dates are available, cancel instead and you'll receive a full studio credit to use toward any future service.

1–2 Weeks Before Your Service
Rescheduling is no longer available, but you can still cancel and receive a 50% studio credit toward any future service.

Less Than 1 Week Before Your Service
Cancellations are no longer eligible for credit. We simply don't have time to fill your spot for others waiting.
